This one’s really fun, comfy, and has a much deeper sound than you’d expect — it’s a 1992 Ovation (USA) Collector’s Series model with the oak leaf epaulettes, tonebar bracing, a very figured tamo ash (solid) top, thin-depth, brown-colored bowlback, and the classic OP-28 preamp/pickup system with 3-band EQ. The neck is mahogany/maple 5-piece and it has a v-shaped, almost ‘60s Martin-like cut to it. The board and bridge are walnut and it has maple fretboard inlays.
I took this down to CT over the weekend (its homecoming!) to enjoy and it reminded me why I always loved picking-up thin-depth Ovations in the stores back in the late ‘90s — they’re so cozy — you can lay on a couch with them practically flipped horizontal in the most laze-about pose and it’s still going to be comfy to play and sound good while you’re doing it.
I’ve given it a fresh level/dress of the frets and setup work.
