In this lesson, I will help you select advanced-level courses so that you can maximize your odds of receiving academic scholarships and college-level credits.
As I mentioned previously, when college admissions officers look at your application, they will look at basic qualifications like your grades, test scores, extracurricular involvement, and the rigor—or difficulty—of the classes you took in high school.
They’ll look at all these to make sure you match up to the standards of the typical student who goes to that university. To help strengthen your college application, and make you a better student overall, I will go over two of the most popular college-level programs you can participate in during high school.
The ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM and the INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE Program. Full disclaimer, there is also the CAMBRIDGE ADVANCED INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION known as the AICE Diploma, and DUAL ENROLLMENT, also called concurrent enrollment.
I will talk about these two in more depth in another video but for now, I want to focus on what are arguably the two most popular college-level programs available to most high school students.
By the end of this video, not only should you understand the difference between the two options, but should also have a good idea about which one is best for you.
To do this we are going to cover the 5 differences between AP and IB classes.
