Pathrode Recipe | Steamed Colocasia leaf rolls | Arbi Leaves Patra

Ingredients :

Colocasia leaves 45
Rice 1/2 cup
Green moong 1/2 cup
Red chillies 8
Grated coconut 1/2 cup
Tamarind marble size
Asafoetida 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Method :

Wash and soak rice and moong in water for 6 to 7 hours.
Remove the stem and thick veins of the colocasia leaves. Wash the leaves well and keep aside so that all the excess water drains out.
In a blender add red chillies, tamarind and grated coconut. Blend to a smooth paste using little water.
Drain off the excess water of soaked rice and green moong. Transfer the mixture into blender and blend semi coarsely using little water to make thick paste.
Keep the colocasia leaf upside down on a clean surface. Apply a layer of the ground masala uniformly on the back of the leaf.
Place the second leaf on top of the first leaf and apply masala.
Repeat the process for 7 to 8 leaves depending on how thick or thin you want your colocasia rolls.
Fold the sides of the leaves, apply masala and roll tightly along length of the leaves to make a roll. Repeat the process with rest of the colocasia leaves.
Steam the rolls 25 to 30 minutes on medium flame.
Slice the rolls and serve hot with coconut oil on top or shallow fry using coconut oil till crisp.
