Red Deer County Community Services is promoting healthy communities by improving affordable and accessible rural transit services with the help of a $320,000 GreenTRIP grant from the Alberta Government.
A new, clean-running, compressed natural gas bus provides the regular daily return service on routes to and from Gasoline Alley East, Gasoline Alley West, and Springbrook.
This new bus features improved fuel savings, intelligent location technology, and will tie into the new City of Red Deer fueling and storage infrastructure.
The new bus seats up to 41 passengers, or 75 passengers when standing room is included.
It is estimated that expanded transit service will lower greenhouse-gas emissions in the County by almost 122 tonnes per year.
Red Deer County transit routes allow passengers to make City transit connections at Bower Mall and will bring City passengers out to enjoy and do business in Gasoline Alley and Springbrook.
These routes feature a number of stops in Gasoline Alley East, Gasoline Alley West, along Hwy 2A and Taylor Drive, in the Bower Mall area, and in the Westerner Park area. There is also daily service to and from Springbrook during peak hours in the morning and late afternoon.
