Des Moines police are investigating a man’s death Monday as a homicide after finding a body in MacRae Park, according to a press release.
While responding to a reported shooting, police discovered the body of a 22-year-old man at 1:18 p.m. Monday near the 2200 block of SW 11th Street.
On Tuesday, police said evidence indicates 22-year-old D'Anthony Coleman of Ottumwa agreed to meet with three others to "conduct a transaction."
"During that transaction, an armed robbery attempt occurred," DMPD said in a release.
It was at that time that Coleman was shot and killed.
It is not clarified if Coleman was the subject of the robbery or a participant, but police said a 17-year-old male has been charged with first-degree robbery.
The investigation is ongoing.
