The Corvette and a mid-engine layout have a history that dates back to the 1960's. There were five mid-engine test vehicles between then and the 1990's and while none never made it to production, the C8 did. Here Steve Pidilla, the Corvette's Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer takes us from the very first C8 prototype, nicknamed BlackJack, to two more generations of test mules and finally to the production model.
