The New York Steinway factory was making phenomenal pianos in the 1950’s. This is a great example of the kind of work that was coming out of the factory at the time. The walnut finish has a gorgeous woodgrain and is in great condition.
We just restrung the piano with new tuning pins and new damper-felts. The soundboard was refinished, and the plate was re-bronzed as well. Metal hardware was also re-plated, and the brass has been polished. So, the piano’s appearance, performance, and sound is top-notch.
Its gentle history is revealed in the high quality of the original (not plastic) keytops. The factory price for a new walnut Steinway model S is $123,800, and the prices keep going up every year. So this is a great opportunity to get a fine quality Steinway at a price that is less than a mid-level Asian production piano.
