- Umemiya Ryunosuke (梅宮 竜之介 Umemiya Ryūnosuke), usually called "Wooden Sword" Ryu (木刀の 竜 Bokutō no Ryū)

Ryu would initially met Tokageroh (トカゲロウ, "Tokagerō") in an abandoned Bowling Alley in the lady's restroom where Tokageroh possessed him and used his body to get his revenge on Amidamaru, but Tokageroh eventually left on his own after a short fight with Yoh. While waiting to be trained by Asakura Yohmei, Ryu met Tokageroh again who now had no purpose in life and decided to become Ryu's guardian ghost. Ryu would later gain the power to use a Over Soul with the training from Yohmei, also learning a technique called Yamata no Orochi (ヤマタノオロチ) that he would later learn to harness, thanks to the training from Anna. Before the second round of the Shaman Fights he would then create a giant Over Soul, called "Yamata no Orochi Go" and later an Armor Over Soul, called 'O.S. "Sashimi Bouchou Susanorō" (O.S.刺身包丁スサノロウ. Sashimi Cleaver Susanorō).
Tokageroh was born into poverty and was forced to eat his own dead mother to survive. He later became a thief and led a horde of bandits who terrorized the area 600 years ago.

During his lifetime he became infamous and even formed his own fighting style called "Tokage Kenpō" (トカゲ剣法, "Lizard Style").Tokageroh always called himself a nasty villain but in reality, he was a big softie who missed the comfort of mother's care.

There was once a local hill that Tokageroh and his group of bandits used as a hideout, but one day Amidamaru passed by and was ambushed by them. However, being the stronger one, Amidamaru killed Tokageroh and his group of bandits. Tokageroh was unable to pass on because he wanted revenge and his hatred eventually turned his skin tone lizard green.
