Following a year-long battle with lung cancer, Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist has died at the age of 56. North American audiences knew Nyqvist best for portraying villains in John Wick and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Aside from his bad guy roles, Nyqvist was also known for his role in the original Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo film and the Oscar nominated musical dramedy As It Is In Heaven. His family released a statement saying, “Michael’s joy and passion were infectious to those who knew and loved him. His charm and charisma were undeniable, and his love for the arts was felt by all who had the pleasure of working with him."
