City of Food: Exploring Houston through the belly of Bayou City presents:
This Is It Soul Food opened in 1959 as a restaurant in Houston's Fourth Ward, by Frank and Mattie Jones. Frank had developed the oxtail recipe himself, from flavors passed down through his ancestors, as an integral part of soul food. Sixty-four years later, This Is It continues to serve oxtail with the same recipe that Jones perfected.
