Day 7 of My Railway Holiday
The day begins in darkness at the sheds were we see the locos being prepared for the day.
We see 75029 and 60007 moving off sheds in a cloud of smoke.
This was the start of the NYMR's popular Wartime event which this is my first ever attending a war event.
We next head off to the station to see 60007 moving round the station to collect the coaches witch were the gresley teak stock and some BR mark 1's. From there we join 60007 to ride on the first train of the day with Rodger Barker as the driver for this run. The loco was struggling leaving the station with gd action for the entertainment side.
As we pasted the sheds we see the lamberton tank 29 being prepared at the service pit. After the struggle we continued up the 1 in 49 grade to Goathland despite the struggle we made it to Goathland safely.
We then continue on our journey to Pickering as we head up to Levisham as we were 10 mins away from Levisham I was confronted by my gd friends The Poole brother's arch ennamey JOBSWORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!. In all my years on the heritage railway i was never confronted by 1 all for the sake of my red hooded top caz he thinks it was a red flag. After that we continued to Levisham then onto Pickering.
At Pickering the Jobsworth apologized to me which I accepted as we were waiting to return to Grosmont behind 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley at Grosmont we rest and enjoy the War event and seeing the other steamers in action coming in and out of the station.
Later in the afternoon we rejoin 60007 for 1 more round trip which turn out to be the final 1 of the day despite leaving 30 mins late due to late running services. As we arrive at Goathland we see war department 2-10-0 Dame Vera Lynn on display and there was advertisement on her as the railway is now raising funds to get the loco overhauled and running again after so many years out of action.
We continue on to Pickering the way 60007 was going he and his crew were trying to make up for lost time which we made up 5 mins by the time we arrive at Pickering.
It was completely dark by the time I arrive back at Grosmont. However The american loco was ready to do the final run into Pickering witch left nearly an hour late which ended a very gd day indeed.
Coming up on the final day of the holiday.
More wartime event action and disaster again on the NYMR.
Enjoy
