Swelling after a chin implant is usually not bad after 10 to 14 days when using a submental approach (under the chin). However, some patients who have very elastic tissues often times will have more noticeable swelling and for a longer period of time. It doesn't typically negatively effect the outcome over time but it is an important consideration when planning your surgery from a social and professional standpoint. Dr. Chase Lay is a double board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon working in San Jose, California.
