After comparing this two side by side the Marantz is slightly better built and has a few more options but does not necessarily sound better just different than the Sony. They both have great fidelity when supplied a good source and speakers. When these were new was the Marantz $400 better than the Sony...... No not really, unless you really valued some of its options.
