A Stones classic from the early ’70s, with layered guitars that distil really well onto a single acoustic. Although Keith Richards often played Open G tuning, and this song is in G—the favourite open tuning key—in fact he's in standard tuning on this song, but it works so nicely in this easy alternative tuning that I've arranged it as if he was.
I've provided all the chords in standard tuning too in this video, but I'm focusing on a very workable Open G arrangement, and if you're fairly new to alternative tunings then this is an excellent introduction to a whole new world of sounds and options that will expand your guitar playing in unimagined directions!
We'll look at the strumming, the structure, the chord shapes themselves of course, and we'll add one or two little details that will really make your performance come alive.
The whole thing finishes up with a complete playthrough and the backing track on its own so you can play it your way. You'll have loads of fun with this one!
