Hey, guys! Well, Netflix removed and destroyed Takeshi Kovacs’ stack for good. Season 3 of Altered Carbon was cancelled. The announcement was made exactly six months after the February release of Season 2. Unlike other shows recently discontinued by Netflix, Altered Carbon was axed not due to coronavirus-related issues, but because the production costs of the special effects-heavy sci-fi series became too high. From the beginning, Altered Carbon was a very ambitious and complex project even for such a giant as Netflix, and filming of Season 2 took more than two years. In the second chapter, Joel Kinnaman was replaced by Anthony Mackie as Takeshi Kovacs, which gave the series a welcome refresh. And overall, the second season seemed to have more layers to it and more depth. Unfortunately, this was not enough for Netflix to justify overly high production costs. Joel Kinnaman is currently filming the 2021 action and fantasy movie The Suicide Squad, while Anthony Mackie is going to star as Falcon in the superhero TV series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney Plus.
