Sepsis is a top hospital killer, causing an astounding 1 out of every 2 to 3 deaths. New research led by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine shows that following protocols that involve antibiotics and testing, as soon as a patient is suspected of having sepsis, saves lives. The results are published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
