Sandy Beach 2nd Day Beaches on Oahu Reopen May 17, 2020 Oahu Hawaii. It's Sunday May 17, 2020 at Sandy Beach about 4:15pm. It is the 2nd day Oahu beaches are open since they closed on April 17, 2020 due to Covid-19. Looks like many people took this opportunity to got out and get some sun. I was happy to be able to set up my tripod on the beach finally to film some action. The first action I got was a rescue by a lifeguard friend. Sandy Beach has a very dangerous shore break and some powerful undertow that can make it hard to come back to shore. Plus it has one of the highest rate of neck and back injuries in the nation. It's not for beginners, both novice and experienced people have died or have been seriously injured at Sandy's (Sandy Beach). You do not want to spoil your vacation with a tragedy. Enjoy the action and waves from the beach or through my camera! =)
