The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) teaches us about the importance of showing compassion and love to our neighbors.
In this context, our neighbors are not just those who live next door, but also those who are spiritually lost and in need of the gospel.
The Good Samaritan’s actions demonstrate that loving our neighbors is not just about feeling sorry for them, but about actively showing them kindness and care.
The gospel commission (Matthew 28:18-20) is Jesus’ command to His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything He has commanded.
This commission is a call to share the gospel with others and to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
If we were lost, wouldn’t we need someone to share the gospel with us?
The Good Samaritan’s actions in the parable demonstrate that we should be willing to share the gospel with others, just as we would want someone to share it with us if we were in a similar situation.
The Bible teaches us to do all things in love (1 Corinthians 16:14).
This means that our actions, including sharing the gospel, should be motivated by love for God and for others.
The Good Samaritan’s actions in the parable were motivated by love for the man he saw lying on the side of the road, and we should strive to have the same motivation when sharing the gospel.
He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. (Proverbs 10:5)
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; Open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread. (Proverbs 20:13,15)
Sleeping in harvest, or being lazy during times of plenty, is considered a shameful and poverty-inducing behavior.
The Bible teaches us that we are currently in the harvest season (Matthew 9:37-38, John 4:35).
This means that there are many people who are spiritually lost and in need of the gospel.
The Good Samaritan’s actions in the parable of the Good Samaritan demonstrate the importance of showing compassion and love to our neighbors, including those who are spiritually lost and in need of the gospel.
We should strive to do all things in love, including sharing the gospel, and recognize that we are currently in the harvest season, where many people are in need of the gospel.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)
This love is not limited to a select few, but is universal, encompassing all of humanity.
This gift is not just a token of God’s love, but it is the means by which humanity can be saved from sin and its consequences.
Salvation is not earned or deserved, but it is a free gift that is available to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
The passage also explains that Jesus did not come into the world to condemn humanity, but to save it.
It also emphasizes the condition of salvation, which is faith in Jesus Christ.
"And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”” Esther 4:13-14
JESUS taught us that the GIFT is in the GIVING.
We shouldn't lose the focus of sharing the gospel with others while there is still time.
“Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:38
IT IS STILL HARVEST SEASON, don't throw in the towel!
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
“And whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:39
PRAY for the unsaved.
The Bible also encourages us to pray for the unsaved, asking God to send out workers into the harvest field and to save those who are lost.
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.” 1 Timothy 2:1
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Luke 18:1: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
Romans 12:12: “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
Ephesians 6:18: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
