The 3-turn helical antenna that I build in this video has a 9.55 dBi gain and works great as a directional antenna on a diversity receiver setup. The best part of this is that you can make this for almost no money. If you have access to a 3D printer and some scraps lying around, it is virtually free.
I lied. The best part is that this DIY antenna is probably better than any patch that you are probably using right now.
