The first opening to Getter Robo Go!: 21st Century Boy by Hiroyuki Kikusui. For some reason this wasn’t on YouTube and most videos claiming to be of the opening are of the second one instead. This is weirdly difficult to find just by itself so I had to clip this off of a raw episode.

Getter Robo Go! Is sort of the red headed stepchild of the Getter series. While the manga is a sequel to the original series, the Anime is something of a remake, now aimed at a much younger audience. Despite no one talking about this show and it practically vanishing off the face of the earth, it managed to air 50 episodes so I assume ratings were high enough. I don’t think anyone has subbed it either, though going by the supposed quality of the show maybe that’s a good thing.

This is one of the strangest anime openings I think I’ve ever heard. It’s easy to see why most people tend to pass the Second opening off as the first, given how it sounds much more like a Getter Robo song in the first place compared to this weird synth-funk/electronic rock/post-disco thing. Despite its weirdness, it’s still super catchy and fun. Enjoy
