"How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who who weakened the nations!"
(Isaiah 14:12)
These sentences are probably some of the most quoted and well-known when referring to the fall of Lucifer. The angel that was created to worship God became prideful and wanted worship for himself. He perverted a third of the angels, convincing them to rebel against God.
His fall should be a reminder for us to check the sinful desires of our hearts. Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; Who can know it?" So much perversion comes from us being lead astray by the desires of our hearts.
God will bring anyone that wants to exalt themselves down. He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5). Humility was one of the great traits of our Saviour. "He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross," Philippians 2:8b.
Let us model our behaviours and desires after the Light of the world and not after the Prince of Darkness.❤️
