Happy #TherapyTipTuesday! Today’s tip is great to help children with low muscle tone work towards strengthening, protective reactions, independent sitting, head control, and balance.

To perform this tip, assist the child with sitting positioned over a bolster. Hold a toy far enough so the child pushes with their arms and leans towards the toy, increasing the weight on their hands. The child should push from the top of the bolster and elevate their head towards the target toy. Help them lift their head gently if needed. Move the bolster from side to side to challenge their posture. If the child is able to hold their head up, wait to see if they attempt to reach for the toy or react to prevent themselves from falling. This will help encourage protective reactions.
