How I fired pottery in a wood fired primitive kiln I built from clay in my backyard.
So backstory... I dug the clay from a creek bed. Built a primitive kiln like that Primitive Technology guy. I wanted to fire pottery without buying an electric kiln. It took me about two weeks to DIY this bushcraft ceramics kiln. It took a few hours in the mornings, because it was crazy hot during the summer here. It can be done for free if you have access to clay soils anywhere near your build site. Clay is very heavy. Each bucket of clay weighed more than 10 pounds.

My clay pottery was also made from clay from the creek bed. I strained a lot of the sand out which I didn't do for the kiln build.
The Kiln was free. Until I bought my kiln a gift, a Weber Grill rack for $10 at Gibson's Ace Hardware.
