Dr. Yahir Santiago-Lastra, director of the Women’s Pelvic Medicine Center at UC San Diego Health, discusses some common myths about pelvic floor disorders and offers tips for maintaining bladder health.

Nearly half of women will experience some form of pelvic floor dysfunction. But just because an issue is common doesn’t mean that it’s “normal” or untreatable. Many do not seek treatment for pelvic floor disorders out of embarrassment or fear of needing surgery.
