This whole idea started when Adam_AK and I did a "blind" race of this, blind being in quotes because we both knew the game quite well but were unfamiliar with a hell of a lot of the campaigns. He ended up finishing in a little under 31 hours, and I felt like garbage around 18 hours in, so I just respected my health and quit. This was in February, if I remember correctly.
A month ago or so, I began feeling motivated to do runs of this game again (I had done many ILs and a few campaign runs before) due to having the game get into AGDQ. I figured I'd just practice a few of the maps I didn't know anything about, then just half-ass a run and beat Adam that way. The run turned out to be 17:22:36 and I felt awful for the next few days, since I stayed up for about 25h in total on that day(s).
From then until now, I've been doing a bit more practice on the maps I was unfamiliar with. I haven't optimized everything to the second (or even the minute), but that'd be impossible because there's just that much RNG. I relied a lot on saves just so I wouldn't have to restart a map 10 minutes in due to some unexpected never-happened-before stuff, and I even got stuck on a map or two for quite a while anyway. The result was this: a very much improved run, but with a lot to be desired. It's still enough for me for now, I don't have any urge to improve this until someone wants to race me or do another run.
If anyone tried hard and got good at every single IL, sub 11, or maybe even sub 10, wouldn't be too far off. As for me though, I'm going to just put this off for now, and hopefully Dawned, Onin, or a new runner, comes along and beats this. It's definitely what I'd consider the best category for this game, seeing as there is no "Any%". There are campaigns, and you can do 'em separately, or do 'em all. Hardest difficulty also makes this a million times better, because on Easiest or something it'd just be a complete joke and not worth running, even if it was faster.
