For 20 years I have been playing a Taylor 914c in stages, in churches and at home. It has logged hundreds of hours, had multiple pickups and was even stolen once only to be recovered months later. As guitars age they “open up” becoming more resonant. This is due to the wood actually changing. Releasing volatiles and in a way becoming lighter while also more stable. This comparison is an interesting one because it isn’t comparing apples to apples. The Taylor 914ce has changed a lot over the years. Some of the tone woods have changed along with aesthetics and design. In this video we compare the two to see what’s changed and what effect 20 years can have.
