When you're looking to buy a luxury watch online or on social media, there are a few important tips to take into account.

A word of caution though...I would not purchase a high end watch through a website like Craigslist or OfferUp and suggest that you avoid those because you can't really research the seller through them.
And that is one very important tip when buying a watch through the Internet. You MUST research the seller. In reality, that's who you're buying, so you need to do your homework and find out as much information about the seller's reputation as possible. Look at the seller reviews. If the seller doesn't have any or has very few reviews, be careful!
Another important tip when purchasing a watch is to ask a lot of questions. If the seller has nothing to hide, he or she should be ecstatic to answer all your questions about the watch or the purchase. It's your money, so ask!
Make sure to get plenty of pictures of the watch as well. You can never be too safe!
Preferably, make sure that the communications between you and the seller are in writing. Use your email. If the seller is legit, this will protect the seller as well, so he/she shouldn't mind.
If the seller asks to receive payment through vehicles such as Western Union, Moneygram, Venmo, Cash App, etc., this should throw up a very BIG red flag. Stick to more legit payment options that can be tracked, such as wire transfer, credit card, or even cash at the store.
One last tip about buying luxury watches online is to pay close attention to the price. If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. It can also be that deal you're seeing is no longer valid, as it happens often on sites like Chrono24, but you also need to make sure that the seller is not trying to pull a fast one on you (selling you a fake or defective watch, etc.).
