Over the last four decades, Roberto Lenton has served in
a variety of leadership positions in water and international
development, including with the Ford Foundation, the
United Nations, and the World Bank. In these capacities,
he has had a front seat in efforts to create global water
institutions that are playing key roles in tackling water
challenges around the world. In his talk, Roberto will share
his experience in helping to start up three such institutions:
the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in Sri
Lanka; the Global Water Partnership (GWP), in Stockholm;
and the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the
University of Nebraska (DWFI). In doing so, he will draw
lessons for policy and practice and reflect on some of the
implications for the next generation of water leaders.
