Sometimes putting someone in the right spinal position can help to get more intuitive scapular movement. Going into almost a child's pose puts you into some lumbar flexion (for those with an extension bias) and some thoracic flexion (for those with a flat thoracic spine). Using some furniture sliders helps to get the serratus firing by making you apply some pressure into the floor. This is a good alternative for people who tend to struggle with positioning during a wall slide and they also don't need to contend with gravity. Start by coming out at a 135 degree angle and progress to a straighter reach. Think of pulling the scapula around the rib cage rather than pressing the arms overhead. This helps to release tight lats and is good for providing some context to proper overhead movement.
