Loutro is a charming roadless village on the south side of Crete. The village got its name from the Greek word for "bath," for the many ancient baths found in the area.
Loutro is accessible only by foot or by sea. Ferries run daily connecting Loutro to nearby cities and the exit-point of the Samarian Gorge.
Much of Loutro's economy is based on tourism and fishing, and there are only 10 residents during the winter months.
