(24 Sep 2018) US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi exchanged warm greetings as they started a bilateral meeting at the United Nations on Monday.
Both leaders spoke about combating terrorism.
President Trump said the Egyptian president was at the forefront of fighting terrorism, "you've done an outstanding job, I just want to congratulate you."
They met ahead of Tuesday's opening of the United Nations General Assembly's annual meeting of world leaders, where conflicts from Syria to South Sudan, rising unilateralism, and tackling a warming planet and growing inequality are among issues expected to be in the spotlight.
