*Abstract*
How might the events of The Day After Tomorrow be portrayed through the EAS?

*Analysis*
The scenario takes place in the same setting and time period as the film. As the movie was released in 2004, weather alerts were modeled after products of that time period. The film also predates recent changes to national EAS messages as noted in the EAS handbook. The extreme weather events seen in the movie allowed for some unique event codes to be used (i.e. Flash Freeze Waring). The scale of the disaster was also conducive for a national EAS message to be utilized. This scenario script was developed entirely in 2023.

*Production*
The visuals were created on Microsoft PowerPoint with some custom fonts and were recorded on OBS. The EAS headers and other audio were obtained/created from EASyKit: a resource for EAS scenarios. The TTS voices were sourced from an online demo. All audio elements were mixed on Audacity, and the final scenario was edited and rendered using iMovie. Total production time was roughly a month, coinciding with several other projects.

*Other*
My first movie-based EAS scenario. Having seen the film at one point, although scientifically debunked, the disaster seemed quite ideal for an EAS scenario. While excessive in some aspects, many of the weather phenomena depicted can be translated into EAS alerts. This scenario is on the shorter side, and there are many other parts of the country to explore in relation to the movie's plot. Regardless, I'm happy with how this perspective connects with the events of the film.

This presentation contains EAS alerts with authentic audio. Therefore, the alerts can be used to trigger real EAS equipment. Unauthorized usage of EAS tones on live radio/TV stations is an FCC violation which can result in fines/prison. I will not assume liability for misuse.
