After a long hike on a scenic old miner's trail high up in the mountains we came to a remote abandoned mine and miner's camp. At the camp are two cabins that have been flattened by wind and time and an interesting open portal. There is also an equipment shed that housed a huge engine and huge air compressor, both very impressive and great to see. After giving the engine and air compressor a thorough examination we head into the underground workings. This gold/lead and copper mine was primarily active between 1915 and 1918. There is a colorful mineral vein here and the miners used natural timbers for shoring and track ties in the underground workings.
