People travelling on New York City subway are trapped deep underground as smoke fills their carriage.
Subway travellers on the New York underground became trapped in a smoke-filled carriage after a fire broke out.
The scene, which shows commuters covering their faces in an attempt to block out the acrid smell, was captured by Luis Barragan, who uploaded the video to Instagram.
Panning around the carriage, Lewis explains that there was "some type of explosion ... the place is full of smoke."
The fire started at about 11 p.m. along the tracks for the No. 7 train, which runs between Queens and Manhattan, FDNY officials said.
Although it was eventually dealt with, it caused major delays for New Yorkers.
