Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016), known by his stage name Prince, was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music producer and actor. He is considered one of the most influential music artists of all time.

Prince's music career spanned more than four decades, with 39 studio albums and more than 100 million records sold worldwide. He is famous for his unique musical style, combining many genres such as funk, rock, pop, soul, psychedelia and new wave.

"Purple Rain" (1984) is Prince's most successful album, earning him two Grammy Awards and becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time. Prince's other famous hits include "When Doves Cry", "Let's Go Crazy", "Kiss" and "Raspberry Beret".

Prince was known for his charismatic stage performances and bold fashion sense. He is also a talented musician, composing, producing and playing most of the instruments on his albums.

Prince died suddenly in 2016 at the age of 57 from a painkiller overdose. Yet his music and legacy continue to inspire generations of artists and fans around the world.
