Salomé is a movie of 1922. Directed by Charles Bryant and Ukranian artist Alla Nazimova, after the play written by Oscar Wilde.
Alla Nazimova - at that time international sensation as Salomé - Stepdaughter of Herod and the daughter of Herodias did the salacious veil dance, intended to seduce Herod according to the legend.
Alla Nazimova started her career as a theater actress - first in her native Russia/Ukraine and then on Broadway.
Nazimova also wrote the script, choreographed and directed the "Salomé movie where she danced and acted.
Alla Nazimova made about 18 silent movies, some together with Rudolf Valentino.
When "Salomé" hit the theatres, it instantly became a box-office success.
