Ingredients
1 sheet of puff pastry
1/2 can of cherry pie filling
1/2 cup of sliced almonds divided
Icing
2 heaping tbsps of powdered sugar
1/2 Tsp of vanilla or almond extract
1 tbsp of heavy cream
Stir until blended
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Unfold pastry and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
Make 6 even horizontal cuts on the two outside sections.
Fill center section with 1/2 can of cherry pie filling and sprinkle almonds in the top. Fold outer pastry strips over the center section creating a braid.
Brush pastry with beaten egg and bake in preheated oven for appropriately 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle icing on pastry and garnish with almonds and a spoon full of pie filling.
