To counter Beijing's growing presence, New Delhi is bolstering its own naval capabilities, with a particular focus on nuclear submarines. Today marks a significant development in India's naval modernisation efforts with the launch of the INS Arighat, a nuclear-powered submarine. This vessel, named "The Destroyer of Enemies," is the second of its kind for India and will significantly enhance the country's nuclear deterrence capabilities. India's long-term goal is to acquire a total of 24 new submarines by 2030. Despite its ambitious plans, India faces a significant challenge in catching up to China's massive naval fleet.
