How did sin enter the world and what was its affects?
It is important for us to understand what the law of sin is. How does it operate in humanity. Once properly understood we will learn how the law of sin and death affects humanity as well. Once understood we can begin to understand how the New Covenant of Grace sets at liberty those who are held in captivity to sin. Let’s journey through the scripture to discover this message.
In Romans the Bible reveals through one man (Adam) sin entered the world (Rom 5:12), and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. The effect was the sentence which brought condemnation (Rom 5:16). The condemnation was death. Death reigns through Adam’s trespass (Rom 5:17, 21). We were made sinners by one man’s disobedience (Rom 5:19).
The word “made” sinners (G2525) a verb means: to constitute, to render, to make - a sinner by Adam’s one act of disobedience. The apostle Paul gives us more insight into this by revealing we “were slaves of sin” (Rom 6:20, 22).
