According to research, hair dyeing or coloring is considered SAFE during pregnancy as there is not much of evidence stating that the chemicals used are potentially harmful to the fetus.
The chemicals used in semi permanent or permanent dyes are not highly toxic and are safe to use. Only a small amount of hair dyes are absorbed by the skin, leaving little that would be able to reach the fetus. And this small amount is not considered harmful for the fetus.
There is not enough data which tells us that No, don't dye or color your hair during pregnancy !!
However, above all, doubts do occur and to help in this situation, read the below points of caution:
✓ Still stressed whether to dye or not, wait until the 2nd trimester starts and you are good to go as the risk if harming the fetus goes down
✓ Try to do a patch test where in you rub a small amount of dye in the croom of your elbow, leave it for 2 days and then check for any allergy or skin rash
✓ Do follow the safety precautions while applying the dye or color
