One of the keys to proper driving is keeping your eyes on the road.
Head-Up Display on select Kia models was designed to put vital information in your line of sight so you can control the car while monitoring vital functions.
Let’s take a look at how Head-Up Display performs and how it can be personalized:
If you’re not familiar, Head-Up Display, or HUD, is a semi-transparent display that projects key information from the instrument cluster and the navigation system onto the
windshield glass.
A driver can see information without taking their eyes off the
road to look down to the instrument cluster. To turn HUD on or off, go to User Settings in the Instrument
Cluster and enable Head-Up Display – it’s that easy. You can select the information that’s displayed on the HUD,
which may include Turn By Turn navigation instructions…
Road signs…
Driving Assist information…
Lane Safety info like Lane Keeping Assist..
Blind-Spot safety…
Highway Driving Assist, if equipped…
As well as warning lights, like low fuel…
And audio system information.
When the vehicle is stopped with the transmission in Park, you can adjust the HUD settings from the LCD display in User Settings.
You can adjust the height of the HUD image on the windshield glass, so it is exactly right for you. You can also adjust the degree of rotation of the HUD display…
As well as the brightness. You can choose which content you would like to view on the head-up display.
Some people prefer just seeing their speed and turn by turn instructions…
Others, want as much information as possible in the display – the choice is yours!
In fact, you can even choose the size of the HUD speedometer – small, medium, or large… as well as the color of the speedometer – white, orange, or green.
It’s all about personalizing the display to meet your preferences.
Be aware that under certain conditions, the HUD may not be visible:
Like if you are slouching in your seat…
Or wearing polarized sunglasses.
Driving on a wet road, or when there is excessive light inside or outside of the vehicle can also affect your ability to see the display.
Or, if there is an object covering the HUD so it cannot project onto the windshield.
Plus, any modifications to the windshield, such as tinting or other aftermarket treatments, could affect HUD.
And if you have to replace your windshield, be sure to replace it with a Kia original-equipment windshield glass specifically designed for your vehicle.
Remember, the Head-Up Display is a supplemental system – while it provides you with invaluable information in your line of sight, you should not solely rely on the system. Always drive safely and pay attention to driving conditions.
