EXCLUSIVE! Here's a series of commercial breaks during a late-night marathon of Three Stooges shorts on October 22, 1994 (thank you to Doobie1975 for identifying the exact airdate!) that aired on TBS' Nite Flix block. (Nite Flix was originally spelled "Night Flicks" and was an offshoot of Night Tracks, the Superstation's answer to MTV.) Beware of imitators—THESE are watermarked! No chance of being stolen...hopefully...
PART 1:
1. The beginning of this tape is shown; apparently an airing of the 1982 film THE THING was recorded over.
2. Cybermania '94 bumper. This was an awards ceremony held by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences that honored achievements in video games. It was later succeeded by the Interactive Achievement Awards in 1998. You can tell as you go through this series of breaks that TBS was trying to make a very big deal out of it—one of two bumpers fronted every commercial break in this recording.
3. "Who's the Boss?" promo. Remember, TBS was still using the :05/:35 "Turner Time" initiative back then.
4. Toyota Celica commercial.
5. Wendy's Chicken Bacon Swiss commercial, back when the late Dave Thomas, founder of the fast-food chain, appeared in a prominent role.
6. Pledge commercial.
7. Florida Orange Juice commercial.
8. UpWords commercial. I still have this game lying around somewhere...
9. Chevron commercial. I assume "Techroline" was a predecessor to Techron?
10. Tartar Control Mentadent commercial.
11. Playschool Talking Alphie commercial. For something that's supposed to be "new," it certainly looks like it came out of the mid-1980s. Maybe educational toys had a bit of catching up to do.
12. Skittles commercial—remember this one from "The Importance of Being NextG Poop"?
13. TBS Nite Flix bumper leading back into the Stooges. VO is John Young.
