Welcome to my guide to winning the World Touring Car 800 Race around Tokyo Expressway - East Clockwise on Gran Turismo 7.
THIS RACE WAS COMPLETED ON HARD DIFFICULTY
Car Used for this race: Subaru WRX Gr.3
Things I bought for this car from the Tuning Shop:
Medium-RPM Turbocharger
Fully Customisable Racing Transmission
Racing Intermediate Tyres (Just incase)
Racing Heavy Wet Tyres (Just incase)
Things I changed in the Tuning Menu:
Downforce: Front - 410, Rear - 530
Top Speed: 300km/h.
Make sure the Medium-RPM Turbocharger is selected.
STRATEGY TLDR:
Fuel to mix 6 at the start of the race, Racing Hard Tyres to start.
Be aggressive with your overtakes on AI to get through traffic ASAP.
Be careful of rain showers and change tyres if necessary, your fuel will last 5 laps so depending on when you need to stop for fuel you may need to make 2 pit stops.
Lets break it down:
The Subaru WRX Gr.3 isn’t the fastest in a straight line but with the little bit of reduced downforce and the add on of Medium RPM Turbocharger we can definitely keep up with the other cars and take advantage of the slipstream. This car is great through the fast sweeping corners in Sector 2 & 3 and can handle the Wet Conditions if your race ends up having a downpour like mine did.
This race is a 10 Lap Sprint Race around Tokyo Expressway - East Clockwise during the day and night cycle. It can also have varied weather conditions so be ready with the Wet Weather Tyres.
Having the best in place strategy for this race is tricky because the rain can come anywhere between lap 2 -5. If you get rain early like I did you will need to pit twice for fuel. If you get lucky and have some rain on lap 5 you can make a 1 stop strategy work.
Keep your fuel in full saving mode, you will need to conserve max fuel to make it home on a 1 stop strategy but that’s weather dependent. Your fuel will last 5 laps or so with max fuel saving.
All the faster AI cars will be on Soft and Medium Tyres at the start of the race and pit early, we use the Hard Tyres to make sure we can stay out as long as possible until the rain hits.
I have my Traction Control set to 0 but that’s personal preference, having a higher setting will cost you some lap time but makes it safer to drive, especially in the rain. If you want to make the car more stable during the rain showers increase the TC to 2-3.
If you have any questions or are struggling with the strategy please comment below and I will do my best to help you.
