One of the greatest men I ever knew, recounts his experience bailing out of his Liberator in WW2. He was a B-24 bombardier in the 445th Bomb group and was shot down on his 16th mission. He evaded for months with the French Underground, but was eventually captured and sent to various POW camps.
My childhood was full of stories like these... I would sit quietly while my grandfather and dad would sip scotch and swap stories at the table.
These interviews and stories were recorded years ago when I was compiling data for a college history project.
