Israeli Member of the Knesset Anastassia Michaeli has received death threats following her introduction of a bill to ban the use of loudspeakers at Islamic mosques in Israel. Although the "Muezzin law" refers vaguely to religious institutions, only mosques use public address systems to call Muslims to prayer. MK Anastasia Michaeli is now being guarded by Knesset Security Forces, and she said she has turned over all threatening material to them. She says she received the threats via telephone, email, and Facebook and that her family members have also been threatened.
