In this video, Angela and I complete a couple easy day hikes while exploring through Kananaskis, Alberta. This was our last full day in Alberta so we wanted to get the most out of it as possible. First off, we planned to do a simple little hike around Barrier Lake; approximately a simple, mainly flat terrain 20 minute walk. As you'll see that turned out to be a bigger and longer hike than originally planned, but 100% worth it. Following that, we drove to Blackshale Creek Suspension Bridge. Once again, we mainly wanted to see as much as possible in the small amount of time we had; this bridge "hike" was just that. The drive here is along a rough, graded logging road that in the winter months leads to a skiing area. Along a straight stretch of road you'll see a group of cars all parked along the side, signalling you're near the trailhead. This is where we parked. The trail is all up hill but well maintained and not too crowded. The hike itself literally took us only 5 minutes to get to the bridge from the road but there is extra trail if you wish to skip the bridge and walk the loop trail a different route.
Enjoy!
