JustAnswer Customer: My thermostat says wait following schedule recovery and the fan won't turn on and the AC won't turn on.
JustAnswer Customer: It is a Honeywell thermostat.
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?
JustAnswer Customer: I don't actually know.
JustAnswer Customer: How does this work anyway?
JustAnswer Customer: Do I need to pay for your help,?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
JustAnswer Customer: Probably, it depends on what the problem is.
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?
JustAnswer Customer: To my knowledge, nothing has been changed with the system.
JustAnswer Customer: It just started doing this.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Hello, My name is Billy.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Usually this is a bad delay timer in the thermostat.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: It is a 5 min shortcyle delay but it can get "stuck".
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: We can bypass the thermostat to see if the the system runs ok if you like.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: We would remove the top section of the thermostat and cross a few wires.if you are game?
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: also disregard computer generated phone offers not currenly available
JustAnswer Customer: Sounds good, let's do it!
JustAnswer Customer: Which wires should I short?
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: ok remove the top portion of thermostat but leave sub base attached to wall.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Remove the red wire from R The green wire from G And cross them/twist them together.tell me if blower inside starts.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Also is this gas furnace and ac or heat pump?
JustAnswer Customer: It is a gas furnace and AC
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: great.take the red from R.the green from G and the yellow from Y.twist all 3 together and tell me if blower and ac start
JustAnswer Customer: The colors are actually red white blue and the back plate label is 1 2 3, respectively.
JustAnswer Customer: Should I go ahead and tie all three of those together?
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: oh oh.you dont have a basic thermostat.does the thermostat actually wire to a interface panel and then the panel to furnace?
JustAnswer Customer: I did not realize that but now that I go and look down by the furnace is something called an equipment interface module, and it looks like the red blue and white wires go to that.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: correct.can you take front of the interface?
JustAnswer Customer: I have it off.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: do you see a list of terminals r,g,y,w that say equipment?
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: and the wire on those terminals runs to the furnace.
JustAnswer Customer: I found wires corresponding to our W Y and G that all run to the furnace.
JustAnswer Customer: Oops I mean r
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: great now lets do what we were going to do at the thermostat but now we bypass thermostat and interface.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Take the r, g and Y wire out of the terminals and twist together.tell me if system starts
JustAnswer Customer: Got it I will let you know in a second.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: standing by
JustAnswer Customer: There is a relay clicking on and off at 5 Second intervals.
JustAnswer Customer: The blower fan is not coming on.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Can you post a pic of the interface or get a model number?
JustAnswer Customer: THM5421C
JustAnswer Customer: The furnace itself is a Lennox, if that helps.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Ok lets try just the red wire from furnace to the green wire from furnace ( R and G) and what is furnace model?
JustAnswer Customer: I am not sure of the model number.
JustAnswer Customer: The control board is g71mpp
JustAnswer Customer: Red and green together turns the main blower on
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: ok this could be a 2 transformer .
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: is there a RC with a wire in it separate from the R terminal
JustAnswer Customer: No, the RC terminal does not have a wire.
JustAnswer Customer: I found the model number it is g71mpp - 6 0 c - 1 1 0 - 0 2
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: ok.sorry to drag this out but it took a turn when it had an interface.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: This is a system found in less than 5% of homes.and that may be a high guess.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Put everything back together.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: We are going to the furnace to do this.you will need some tape and a short wire shaped in a U about 4" long.
BillyHvac: Journeyman HVAC Tech: Remove furnace doors The bottom door comes off and a button pops out.tape this button down.let me know when ready
JustAnswer Customer: No problem, I am grateful for the help.
