At approximately 6:24 AM CET on the Sunday morning of 22 March 2020, a 5.4 or 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit Zagreb, Croatia.
Earthquake caused widespread damage, including to the city’s cathedral one of the iconic symbols of the Zagreb skyline.
The structure has been deemed a hazard to the cathedral and nearby buildings as well as pedestrians. For this reason the structurally unsound section of the tower is cut by explosion and removed by crane.
