Since 1927, the Ebell of Los Angeles has been the forever home of the LA outpost of this venerable women's cultural and philanthropic organization. Designed by the great Sumner Hunt (his wife was a past president of the Ebell of LA), this Italian Renaissance marvel wears its 75,000 square feet well, with refined exteriors, richly decorated interiors, and a courtyard that ties it all together. Plus, the adjoining Wilshire Ebell Theatre has hosted historic appearances by too many celebrities to name, including Judy Garland, Amelia Earhart, Glenn Gould, Dave Brubeck, Rita Moreno, Stevie Wonder...the list goes on. Join me on a short tour through the Ebell's history.
I'm visiting all the landmarks in LA County listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Read more about this one and many more at [ Ссылка ]
