Alleged molestation of 5-year-old child! Tensions rise in Kayseri, crowd sets businesses on fire
In Kayseri's Melikgazi district, a Syrian national allegedly molested a 5-year-old child, raising tensions. Residents of Danişmentgazi neighborhood went crazy with anger after the incident. The crowded group gathered at the incident and went on a rampage to take the person away. The angry crowd overturned vehicles and set some workplaces on fire. Police teams are intervening.
STATEMENT FROM KAYSERI GOVERNORSHIP: PERSON IN CUSTODY
Kayseri Governorate made a statement and announced that a foreign national was detained by the security units in Danişmentgazi Neighborhood as a result of the harassment behavior of a foreign national towards a minor foreign child. In the statement, it was stated that the child was taken under protection and added, "The issue is being meticulously followed by us, and it is respectfully submitted to the public that our citizens should act with restraint and not be involved in any action other than the statements made by the official authorities."
ANGRY CROWD CAUSES A RIOT
A large number of police, riot police, health and fire brigades were dispatched to the scene. While the suspect was taken away from the area by the Special Operations police, the crowd overturned vehicles and set some workplaces on fire. The police intervened with TOMA vehicles to disperse the crowd.
